Weekend Stories

Last Friday, while having  met a friend, going to the bank, going to 711, going up and down the building and finally meeting the programmer, I decided to sit on the conference table and noticed my fly was open.   Not just open, it was really open! HOLY CRAP! I’ve been running in and out of the building most of the morning!  No wonder I was getting stared at more than usual.  Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Come Saturday morning, was walking Bella to Shangri-La when she started asking questions. We were going there so that her Mom can pick her up and they had plans of watching Pirates of the Carribean.   While crossing from MegaMall to Shangri-La under the afternoon sun, she blurts out: “Dad, who was that actor who played Daredevil?”  I go, “Ben Affleck”.  “And who is that girl who played Electra?”  She asked next.   “Why Jennifer Garner I think.” I replied.  “I think Ben Affleck is handsome.” she stated in a matter of fact tone. “and I think that Electra is really pretty!” she added.   Anxious at the mention of a boy’s name and the word handsome in one sentence, there was that feeling of being left out.   A fear or a reminder that sooner of later this li’l girl is going to grow up and Daddy will have to deal with the empty nest syndrome.  I felt insecure and when that happens, desperate measures are called for.  So I asked in an innocent tone, “And Daddy is….?” to which she gamely replied, “HANDSOME”.  Okay, anxiety gone, she’s forgiven and was hugging her right in the middle of the sidewalk.

Five days ago, my sister gives Bella a cellphone, a Panasonic G51M.  It’s really small but has the normal features that come with the new cellphones these days, like polyphonic ring tones, high resolution colored screens, and a host of other features that I don’t care to mention.  Anyway, the point here is this……..it’s better than my phone!  But she was all excited about it, so I bought her a sim card which had free text messages in it.  Anyway, now she texts me most of the time.  Stuff like, “DAD WHERE ARE YOU?” and  “DAD WHAT ARE YOU DOWING NOW?” seem to flood my already bulging inbox.   Apparently, we need to sit down for a little lesson on netiquette and spelling.  I would assume no one wishes to be texted in all caps, and “dowing” nothing about it would be reckless of me as a parent.

A couple of weekends ago, I was supposed to audition for this voice dubbing project of a friend of mine.  They dub telenovelas in English and export them to countries in Africa.  Hell, it was worth a shot and timing couldn’t have been better.  You see during that time, I was experiencing what Phoebe Buffet of “Friends” would call the “sexy  phlegm”.  I figured, that going into that audition armed with my phlegm, and I would be a shoo in for the job.  My voice is relatively deep, and with the phlegm present, it makes it melodiously, Frank Sinatraish.  Hah!  I will be king of the dubbers! Projects will be lined up as far as the eye can see! I will be a celebrity and I might even be offered a star in Hollywood! There I was fantazising of swimming in the wealth I will accumulate from all these projects when I get a text message at 8am. “Guys, I’m so sorry but production has told me that all auditions are cancelled for the day!”  It was from my friend who was the dubbing director.  “Aww, shucks!” I thought.  There goes my chance!  Dejected, I sit down and discover the joys of playing Kratos in God of War and God of War II!  I may not have the phlegm these days but hell, God of War is a wonderful alternative for a bored individual.

Oh yeah, last Saturday, I had the pleasure of meeting Sweetperceptions and Deyey! Wonderful people.  Very down to earth and very interesting!  To both of you guys thank you very much!

Woah. I’m a fan of God of War too, unfortunately, the disc (uhrm, pirated.. ) that we bought for the first series keeps on hanging @ the last 15 minutes of the game. Waaah.

    TK,
Yes, I am a fan now as well. Gotta control myself though, I tend to get addicted to video games. One of the reasons why I have not bought a PS2. Lo and behold, my nephew has one and I have tried to avoid watching him play. Now I’m hooked!!!!
Hey, I can’t access your site. It says “server not found”.

Fly open? This only happens at 5:30AM, Sunday morning, coming out of someone’s unit. hehehe
Your daughter is so cute and she deserves more laod! Didn’t I tell you to send her to boarding school instead? 🙂
Man, your Hollywood dream is almost a reality… and telenovelas is surely the first step. Admit it, you wanted to audition for a porn movie??? hehehe

Larry, I’m sorry about your dad. 😦 One of the things I have thought about is that, when I’m gone, I want my kids to think of me in a good way and remember me with much fondness. Thank you for the kind comments. 🙂
Alvin, I wouldn’t be openly talking about sex if I were getting some. The need to mention it comes from an undesirable fact, that I’m deprived. Yeah, auditioning for a porn movie would be cool! hahahaha!
